Hello and welcome!

Horror Pop Designs is owned and operated by me, Jess Riera. I was a corporate graphic designer and illustrator for over 10 years. My inner artist was unhappy designing things for other people and battling the GenAI monster. Plus I think my coworkers were afraid of me because I wear black and listen to metal music :)

Leaving the corporate world behind during the pandemic, I knew I had to take full control and make art I loved. I fell in love with fiber art, the texture, control, and visceral sense of it all. I found a medium that I connected with and I realized the abundance of materials at my local thrift stores. I also discovered the lack of unique and gothic embroidery patterns available to the world. And I decided to do something about it!

In my shop you will find alternative embroidery patterns. I draw all of my patterns on my iPad and I promote the use of stick and stitch patterns. I encourage my customers to try visible mending, embellish their own clothes or thrift materials to embroider with! These patterns are easy to use and wash off when you are finished stitching!

Additionally in my shop you will find select handmade art all crafted from thrifted and second-hand materials. All the frames have been thrifted or sourced from garage/estate sales. All patches, pins, bags and other hand made items are also made from thrifted and upcycled materials. Denim carhartt is my preferred fabric for most items, cotton sheets and pillow cases are great as well.
